Parker House Rolls
1 cup milk, scalded (or 1 cup hot water and 1/3 cup powdered milk)
¼ cup shortening
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon yeast dissolved in ¼ cup lukewarm water
1 well beaten egg
3½ cups flour
Combine milk, shortening, sugar, and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast mixture and egg. Gradually stir in flour to form soft dough. Beat vigorously. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk. Turn out on lightly floured surface and roll about 3/8” thick. Cut with pizza cutter and roll up like crescent rolls. Let rise until doubled in size. Bake 400degrees for 10 minutes.
